Hello UTL Member,

I wanted to share the invitation for the AFT Massachusetts Fall Conference on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

We will be holding workshops on Building Rep 101, Building Union Density, Safe Schools & Communities for Immigrant Families, New Elected Leaders Panel & Discussion, Health & Benefits, and more.

This is an exciting opportunity for members across AFT Massachusetts to come together and develop skills to help build stronger locals.

Join AFT Massachusetts for our Fall Conference on Saturday, November 22nd. MEJA and LEJA Alert
 
There is a legislative hearing for the MA Joint Education Subcommittee at the statehouse this WEDNESDAY, NOV 12.
You can submit written testimony but the deadline has passed to testify virtually.
 
You can, however, register in person on the day of the hearing.You don't have to be an expert, just a constituent!
Written testimony is accepted through November 19.
There are THREE bills that are up for this hearing that align strongly with MEJA's (MA Education Justice Alliance) and LEJA's (Lowell Education Justice Alliance) priorities, and we'd love to see them passed:
S.374: a bill that replaces the current receivership system with an improvement system that retains local control and has a time limit.
 
H.726/S.409: establishes a commission to study community schools and issue policy recommendations for expanding community schools.
 
H.3980: a bill that would require districts to establish an LGBTQIA+ Parent Advisory Council (similar to SEPAC or ELLPAC).
