Clarification: SPED issue

SPED teachers will not be writing the IEPs for Initial or Reevaluation meetings, as was noted in a recent email from the SPED Department. Having to perform this task would have changed the workload/job description of the SPED teacher, inasmuch as this task has historically been performed by the ETCs.  

Filing a grievance has been avoided in that the SPED department has been made aware of our position, and sped teachers will not be asked or required to write initial or reevaluations.

BACK TO SCHOOL

At this time we wish to extend our very best wishes to all UTL members who will be returning to school tomorrow for the new '25-'26 school year!

Teacher and Paraprofessional Union Building Reps, please seek out your new staff and introduce yourselves as you start to update your new staff contact lists with their personal emails and cell phone numbers!

Have a wonderful first day tomorrow with colleagues and administration and an even better day on Tuesday with your new students (or next week for those whose students arrive then).
